Canoeing the quintessential Canadian pastime is part of the Rocky Mountain Experience Packages! From the calm waters of Muncho Lake to the swift currents of the Liard River all levels of adventure are to be had with our guides! For unguided multi-day river paddles the vast backcountry has much to offer. Below see 2 examples of our accessible-paddle-ready daytrips.

The Mighty Liard River 4-5 hours

We launch our canoes on the Liard River at the Liard River Airstrip. From here the massive river takes us downstream, your guide will lead you past whirlpools and gravel bars. We can stop at Vents River, try your hand at a little bit of arctic grayling fishing!

We continue downstream and about another hour of paddling ensues. Our next stop will be at the secret hanging gardens, a large tufa mound created by a warm spring (no swimming). See the unique plants that grow here and an abundance of birds.

We continue our paddle down the mighty Liard, under the Liard River Suspension Bridge to end at the old Liard River Ferry landing. End your perfect river adventure with a soak in the Liard River Hot Springs.

Trout River Whitewater Adventure 4-5 hours

Young and Old - Canoeing for all ages! A true Rocky Mountain experience!

Young and Old - Canoeing for all ages! A true Rocky Mountain experience!

We drive the canoes north along the lake for a short distance and launch them near the outlet of Muncho Lake. Our paddle begins on a fun whitewater section of the Trout River. The windy and at times choppy river makes for great fun, the odd splash and yeehaws! After about 1.5 hours of paddling we reach a wonderful gravel bar where we can stop for lunch, and for the angler this is a great place to fly fish or spin cast for arctic grayling. The paddle continues down past the mineral licks, keep your eye out for eagles, goats and stone sheep. The river turns murky here, and the last few corners make for epic thrills. We end the paddle at the Trout River Bridge, where your shuttle driver will be waiting with a warm campfire!
