Urs Schildknecht

Urs Bushpilot fishing guide extraordinary, Urs started Liard Air with his wife Marianne way back in the 1970’s.  The couple had immigrated to Canada from Switzerland, seeking the thrill of the great outdoors and small airplanes. Urs took a keen interest in the backcountry fishing early on in his bush flying career, getting tips from First Nations, trappers and hunters on the best fishing spots, often stopping by for a quick cast between charters.  Over the years Urs would “narrow down” his favourite fishing spots to 70 remote fly in lakes, rivers and streams. Since the 1980’s he has been offering his signature fly-in fishing trips, making Northern Rockies Adventures BC top backcountry fishing destinations.

Daniel Schildknecht

Daniel or Dani, the eldest son of Urs & Marianne following in his father footsteps as a bushpilot. Dani loves fly fishing, to him the the Arctic Grayling “is the sailfish of the north” he lives for the thrill of the bite of these nimble fish. Having trained as a chef in the Swiss alps, Dani is equally adept in the kitchen he particularly enjoys cooking fresh fish (no surprises there). Joining his father and the guide team Dani is often on the water as a fishing guide but is also the first point of contact for new guests as our “tour concierge”.

Berrie McKnight

A BC Fishing guide for over 9 years with 50 years of fishing know how, Barrie has caught the mighty sturgeon, salmon and of course our ferocious Northern Pike.  Barrie would call himself more of a gear / spincast fisherman, he is quietly humble but we know him to be an absolute spincasting guru! He’ll try his hands at a fly rod too but his happy place is usually out in the boat.  The beauty of the Northern Rockies has left a mark on him, calling fishing up here "the most exciting angling adventures of my life”.
